Comfort Bikes

Comfort bikes are for our customers who are looking to ride 1-10 miles, do small errands, and/or short rides with the kids.  Comfort bikes typically come with smaller wheels (26" as opposed to 28"), tires that are wider than most, handlebars that come up and sweep back to meet the rider (very little reaching needed), comfortable wide saddles, and gearing that allows the rider to handle any terrain.  Some of the bikes come with a full set of gears 21-27 or just a smaller set 1-8. 

You'll find it interesting that some of the bikes we carry with just 3 or 8 gears are more expensive than the bikes with a full set of 21-27 gears.  Why?  Some of the 3 speed and 8 speed bikes come with what is called an "Internally Geared Hub".  This is nothing new to bicycles, but it is a very proven simple system.  Many of the repairs we get at the shop come to us because of "derailleur" problems.  Internally geared hubs do not have derailleurs so that removes part of the maintenence problem.  We adjust our labor costs for tune ups and overhauls for these bikes, they just don't need as much time & effort to get cleaned up and ready to ride again.  Take a spin on one and see what we're talking about.
