Jamis Bikes
Jamis was selected by Firehouse Cycles as one of our major bicycles lines for the following reasons.
First, we believe Jamis has the best value for money of all bicycles that are marketed in the US. The December issue of Bicycling Magazine named the Jamis Xenith Comp as the Best 2008 Bargain Bike.
Many of Jamis' bikes have won the coveted Bicycling Magazine awards. Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, Commuter Bikes, and Kids bikes have all been honored at some point in the past by Bicycling Magazine. In our head-to-head comparisons across the line we see that Jamis bikes feature greater name brand equity in the component selection and are priced competitively against comparable bikes from other manufacturers featuring non name brand components.
Second, Jamis utilizes "size specific tubing" or SST diameters on all road bike and select mountain bike models. This means smaller diameter tubes for smaller frames and larger diameter tubes for larger frames. Other production manufacturers do not employ this method of ride tuning across the range of product.
Third, unlike many other manufacturers, Jamis does not manufacturer their own components such as handle bars, seat posts, wheels; but rather selects the best components from the expert component manufacturers ensuring great name brand equity and support. Brand name components on Jamis Bicycles are - Shimano, Mavic, SRAM, Rock Shox, Fox Racing Shox, Vittoria, Easton, WTB, Avid, Hayes, Ritchey, e-13, Profile Design, Fizik, American Classic, FSA, Selle San Marco.
Fourth, Jamis employs testing protocol on every carbon frame and fork before it leaves their factories. This testing ensures all carbon fiber frames have been thoroughly & properly saturated with resin during manufacturing, providing a consistent ride quality.
Lastly, like many other leading bike manufacturers, Jamis supports professional level cycling, utilitizing feedback received from factory endorsed athletes to fine tune their products and hatch new ideas. All Jamis performance bikes are field tested for minimum one race season before being put into production.
Jamis began as a US distributor of imported European bicycles and parts in 1937, and has grown into a national powerhouse with international distributors throughout the world.
